Bob Godfrey’s Great at 40 years
Bob Godfrey certainly was great, and so was his 30 minute short, which told the story of pioneering industrialist Isambard Kingdom Brunel in a way only Bob could!
Great wasn’t just a feast for the eyes and ears, but also cemented it’s place in history by becoming the first british animated short film to win an academy award in its category. 40 years after the film’s debut we are joined for a retrospective chat about the film’s legacy in this rare opportunity to see the film in all its glory in 35mm on the big screen.
We will be joined by Tom Lowe, Bob Godfrey’s grandson; Jez Stewart, Animation Curator at the BFI; and Rebekah Taylor, Archivist and Special Collections Officer at UCA Farnham to discuss this important film in detail.
