  • Film Adventurer Karel Zeman + Q&A
  • Film Adventurer Karel Zeman + Q&A

Film Adventurer Karel Zeman is a biographical film that looks back at the life, work and significance of a genius of world cinema. Featuring interviews with contemporary filmmakers from Japan to America to find out why his films are still relevant and in many ways unsurpassed. Terry Gilliam, Tim Burton, Koji Yamamura, Kosei Ono and others talk about the inspiration of Karel Zeman’s work. His film The Fabulous World of Jules Verne (also known as An Invention for Destruction) was released in 70 countries, showing in 96 theaters in New York alone. Zeman was unmatched in his field, he created his own handmade worlds based purely from his imagination.

Zeman’s legacy is kept alive by animation students at Zlin university who remake Zeman’s work using the same techniques the master himself would have. Can modern day students create special effects using Zeman’s techniques? This film will reveal all.

Event/ We are pleased to present a Q&A with producer Ondřej Beránek to accompany the film.
